Weather Cancels Athletics Action This Weekend
Due to torrential weather and poor field conditions, a number of Rensselaer athletic contests, which were scheduled to take place in Florida, have been cancelled.  Teams affected include, women's lacrosse, softball and baseball.  Tonight's baseball game against Mount Saint Mary (6pm) has been postponed to Saturday at 9:30am.

Allen York a Finalist for Ken Dryden Award
TROY, N.Y. – ECAC Hockey has announced its finalists for the Ken Dryden Award as the Goaltender of the Year and Rensselaer student-athlete Allen York has been selected as one of three finalists by the league’s coaches. Also nominated for this year’s award is Cornell University senior Ben Scrivens and Union College freshman Keith Kinkaid.

Justin Metzger Earns National All-America Honors in Pole Vault

TROY, N.Y. – Rensselaer student-athlete Justin Metzger earned National All-American honors after finishing eighth in the men’s pole vault with a height of 4.77 meters at the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by DePauw University at Hollensteiner Track in Greencastle, Ind.

#9 Baseball Edged by WPI, 7-6, in 10 Innings

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) baseball team platted an unearned run in the bottom of the 10th inning to hand Rensselaer its first loss of the season, 7-6, in 10 innings. With the win the WPI Engineers improve to 6-0 on the season, while RPI is now 5-1.

Men's Lacrosse Blanks Potsdam, 8-0
CLEARWATER, Fla. - Freshman goalie James Manchester stopped all nine shots he faced to lead the Rensselaer men's lacrosse team to an 8-0 win over SUNY Potsdam in a non-league game.  With the victory the Engineers stay unbeaten on the young season, improving to 3-0.  The Bears fall to 1-1. Offensively for the Engineers, junior attack Nick Billy paced the team with three goals and an assist.

D'Amigo An ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year Finalist

TROY, NY – ECAC Hockey has announced its finalists for the 2009-10 Men’s Rookie of the Year Award and Rensselaer student-athlete Jerry D’Amigo is one of three nominees in the running for the honor. The winner of this year’s award will be announced by the league next week.  Other finalists include Union’s Keith Kinkaid and Harvard’s Louis LeBlanc.

TROY, N.Y. – The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has announced its finalists for the 2010 State Farm Coaches All-America Team and Rensselaer student-athlete Whitney Coleman has been selected. One of 80 national finalists, she is the third RPI player to receive All-America consideration.
