TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League has announced its year-end awards in men's tennis and two Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes have been recognized.
Jarrett Regier and
Brandon Mazzara were both named All-Liberty League in both singles and doubles competition.
Regier, a junior out of East Amherst, N.Y., was a unanimous selection after going 10-4 in first flight action, this season. His season was highlighted by a pair of four-match winning streaks, including one to start off the 2013 portion of the Engineers' schedule.
A former standout at Clarence High School, Regier went 14-6 in 20 singles matches as a sophomore, including 11-5 in the first flight. He was also 15-6 in doubles play.
Mazzara, a sophomore from Orange, Calif., was 13-7 in singles competition this season, while playing primarily out of the second spot (10-5). He was 3-2 at first singles, while going 17-3 in doubles play.
In 2011-12, Mazzara was 12-6 in singles action, including 12-5 at the second spot. He combined with Regier to go 15-6 in doubles play.
Regier and Mazzara paired up to finish 14-2 in first doubles this season, which included a nine-match winning streak from March 12 to April 9.
The Engineers posted a 16-4 overall record this season, setting a school record for victories.
