Scott Moser

Scott Moser joined the Rensselaer staff in July of 2019 after spending the five seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Canisius College.

In his first season, the Tonawanda, N.Y., native helped the Engineers to one of their best seasons as they went 17-15-2, including four straight victories to conclude the regular season. Their 13-8-1 ECAC Hockey record was good enough for a fourth place finish and a first round post-season bye, but the second round never happened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Several student-athletes earned post-season league honors, including Will Reilly, who was All-League before signing an NHL contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

As an assistant with the Golden Griffins before arriving in Troy, the team captured its first regular season championship in 2016-17 and made three appearances in the Atlantic Hockey Playoffs semifinals. Moser helped recruit two Hobey Baker Top 10 Finalists and two league Players of the Year. There were also All-League First Team honorees for five straight seasons and the Griffs put together the nation's longest unbeaten streak (17 games) in 2017.

Moser spent the 2013-14 season as the hockey operations coordinator for the St. Lawrence women's hockey team, coordinating video breakdown, scouting and practice planning. He has spent time working as a youth coach at the HARBORCENTER Academy of Hockey and has has served as a coach at the USA Hockey National Select Festivals since 2014.

Moser was a captain of the hockey team during the 2011-12 campaign and appeared in 134 career games for the Golden Griffins, recording 59 points on 23 goals and 36 assists. A two-time recipient of the team's Dr. David B. Dietz Award, he was a nominee for the Hockey Humanitarian Award in 2011 and the Derek Hines Unsung Hero Award in 2012. He was also a four-year starter in golf, earning MAAC All-Academic each season.

Moser earned his Bachelor's in Management and Marketing in 2012 and his Master's in Sport Administration in 2014.

His wife, Kelly, and son, Callahan, spend their weekends at the Houston Field House cheering on the Engineers.
