Miles Nolan

Miles Nolan has been the head golf coach at Rensselaer since September 2003.

A Glens Falls, N.Y., native, he has seen his team earn a number of accolades during his tenure, including back-to-back Liberty League Rookie of the Year honorees in 2007 (Eric Fritz) and 2008 (Matt Lussier).

Rensselaer won two tournaments during the 2013-14 season, while finishing second in two others, which included the Liberty League Championships. Nolan's squad advanced to the championship match for the third straight year, but fell, 3-2. Brandon Mader and Michael Souliotis was named to the GCAAPING All-Northeast Region Team. Mader, who earned the recognition for the second straight season, competed in nine matches, highlighted by a third-place finish at the Williams Invitational in September. Souliotis took part in eight matches, winning the Hudson National Collegiate Fall Classic in October.

Nolan was named Liberty League Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the 2012-13 season after leading the Engineers to the conference championship finals. Rensselaer won six tournaments that season, including the ECAC New England Division III Championship in October behind freshman Jamie Jackson, who shot a two-day total of 152 to claim a share of first place. Souliotis was an individual medalist at the Hudson Fall Classic and Mader was named to the GCAA Division III PING All-Northeast Regional Team. He had a stellar season which included finishing fourth in the Hudson National Fall Classic as the team won by 26 strokes, helped RPI to a comeback victory in the Farmingdale State Invitational and was third individually in RPI's Fred B. Kravetz Invitational win.

Nolan guided the Engineers to one of their best seasons in 2011-12 as the program finished sixth or better in all nine matches. Among the highlights was a victory at the season-opening Hamilton Quadragular and a second-place finish at the Liberty League Fall Championships.  Leading the way at the conference championships were All-Liberty League First Team efforts from Grant Rosener and Mader. Rensselaer concluded the season at the four-team match-play Liberty League Championships in the spring, advancing to the finals.

The 2010-11 team also saw a major milestone as Rensselaer won its first ever title at Middlebury's Duke Nelson Classic.

In addition to Rosener and Mader in 2011-12, two others have been recent All-League First Team selections, including Fritz (2009) and Jesse Branken (2010).

The Engineers have also consistently led the Liberty League in All-Academic selections with Nolan as the coach. Through eight years, RPI has had 46 honorees.

In addition to his duties at Rensselaer, Nolan has served as the head professional at Hoosick Falls Country Club, the Par 3 Golf Center in Queensbury and Top of the World Golf Resort in Lake George.

Nolan, who also has experience coaching football, including a stint at Syracuse, is a 1976 graduate of Plattsburgh State.
