Al Stokke, often called the “ironman of the team,” swam in both distances and on relays in the early 1940s. He held the school records in the 200 and 400 and was the leading scorer on the team for two consecutive seasons. A captain as a senior, he also set several records in other school’s pools. In addition to being one of the top swimmers in RPI history, he was also elected as the school’s Grand Marshall as a junior. He graduated in three-and-a-half years.
