Cathy Urbach Butler was a standout from the Class of 1995, who excelled in both softball and women's ice hockey.
She ranks among the all-time leaders in multiple categories, including career batting average, on-base percentage, home runs, RBI, and triples. In 1994, she was ranked among the nation's best in NCAA Division III, finishing in the top-10 in the country in home runs, RBI, slugging percentage, and batting average. Cathy was also named to the All-New York State Softball 2nd All-Star Team.
On the ice, Cathy was a key leader for the women's hockey team, serving as co-captain in her sophomore, junior and senior years. She played 74 games, tallying 52 goals and 38 assists. Cathy was the third-leading scorer in team history and still holds the record for the most goals scored by a defenseman.
During her time with the team, she helped lead RPI to an American Women's College Hockey Association Championship in 1994 and played a pivotal role in helping tum the hockey club into a varsity program.
