Clark was a four-year starter at linebacker, leading the team in tackles in three seasons.  He was a captain in his junior and senior seasons, earning All-ECAC both seasons.  A two-time Defensive Most Valuable Player, he was also a Division III All-American as a junior after recording 145 tackles (47 unassisted), four sacks and four interceptions.

Clark, the school's Career Athlete of the Year as a senior, helped the 1981 team to a 6-2-1 record, the best since 1949.  “He was by far the best football player we had during his four years at RPI,” said then-head coach Kevin Earl.

A graduate of Taconic High School in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Clark was a Dean's List student who was inducted into Olympia.  He was also a brother of Theta Chi who graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
