Joseph Zongol was a standout member of the Class of 2008 from our baseball team. Over his four years at RPI, Joseph established himself as one of the most dominant pitchers in program history, with an impressive 25 career victories and a remarkable 2.21 earned run average.
In 2008, Joseph led the Liberty League with a 9-2 record, a 1.99 ERA, and 82 strikeouts. He also set the school record for career strikeouts that spring, finishing with 286 over his career, and tied the top program mark for career wins. His performance earned him Liberty League Pitcher of the Year honors, All-Liberty League First Team recognition, and a spot on the D3Baseball.com All-America Second Team. Additionally, Joseph was honored on the ECAC Division III Upstate All-Star Team and was selected to the ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-Region after helping RPI win the Liberty League Championship and advance to the New York Regional Final in the 2008 NCAA Division III Championship.
Joseph's dominance was evident throughout his career. In 2007, he posted a 6-1 record with a 1.30 ERA and struck out 74 batters. His stellar pitching led the Liberty League in wins, ERA, and strikeouts, earning him All-Liberty League First Team honors. As a freshman in 2005, he ranked among the nation's best in strikeouts per nine innings, finishing 11th nationally.
Joseph's impact extended beyond his individual performance-his presence on the mound was a driving force behind the team's success throughout his career and his inclusion on the Dean's List speaks to his commitment to his RPI education.
