“By far the best baseball player I’ve ever coached," commented a saddened coach Joe Purello when a broken arm ended Laskowski’s collegiate career midway through his senior season ... At the time he had set an RPI record with a 6-0 pitching record and a 1.29 earned run average (6 earned runs in 42 innings) ... When not on the mound, he was playing left field as he had a team-best .342 batting average ... His junior season he posted a 4-3 record with a 2.30 ERA for team that finished 8-6 ... Batted .286 ... Posted a 3-3 pitching record as a sophomore ... Team's Most Valuable Player all three years ... Chi Phi ... Aeronautical Engineering ... Charles E. Gorton High School.
