Rob Helmer was the top player on a team that was unable to achieve much success. He graduated as Rensselaer’s all-time career leader in scoring, breaking both the men’s and women’s records, and also set the record for most field goals made. He tied the career record for games played.

Helmer scored 43 points in a 97-87 win over St. Lawrence, tying Rensselaer’s all-time single-game mark, and also scored 39 points in a 101-95 overtime loss to RIT.

As a senior, he led the team in scoring, was second in rebounds, was named to the Capital District All-Tournament Team, and was Rensselaer’s only All-ICAC First Team selection. He also led the team in scoring 13 times and rebounding nine times.
