Shanny Lin was a standout member of the Class of 2018 from our women's swimming and diving team. Throughout her illustrious career, Shanny displayed unmatched versatility and dominance in the pool. From 2014 to 2018, she competed across an incredible range of events, setting school and pool records along the way.
Shanny ranks second all-time in team points scored and finished her RPI career with exactly 100 podium efforts. During her time as an Engineer, the team compiled an incredible 49-4 record in dual meets, including two undefeated seasons. She was also an integral part of the 2018 Liberty League Championship team, which was the first in RPI women's swimming & diving history.
Shanny's commitment to excellence was evident as she earned a remarkable 69 individual victories, along with multiple top-three finishes in major championships. She was a four-time champion in the 200-yard butterfly at the Empire 8 and Liberty League Championship, while also earning conference titles as a member of the 400 medley relay team. Lin still owns the RPI women's and Robison Pool record in the 200 butterfly, an event she finished runner up at the 2017 NCAA DIii Championship. Over the course of her career, she was named a three-time NCAA DIii All-American in the 200 butterfly and received an NCAA DIii Honorable Mention All-American award.
Beyond her athletic achievements, Shanny was also a standout in the classroom. A four-year CSCAA Scholar All-American, she earned 1st Team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in 2017 and 2018, and was named to the 3rd Team in 2016. She was also a three-time Liberty League All-Academic selection, further demonstrating her commitment to excellence both in and out of the pool.
