TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League announced its weekly awards for the week ending October 9 and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete
Ashley Aust (Queensbury, NY/Lake George) was named the Rookie of the Week in women’s soccer.
In Rensselaer’s lone game last week, Aust, who is a midfielder/defender, gave the Red Hawks a 1-0 overtime victory over Liberty League foe Clarkson when she tallied 6:42 into the extra session. She came down the right side of the field, and scored past a diving goalkeeper for the win.
On the season Aust has compiled one goal and one assist for three points, while registering two shots, including one shot on goal.
Prior to attending Rensselaer, Aust captained both the soccer and track programs at Lake George High School. She was also named the soccer team’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2003 and selected to the All-Wasaren League First Team in 2003 and 2004.
The Red Hawks (2-6-1; 1-3-0 Liberty League) return to action tonight when they host Hartwick College in a 7pm non-league matchup at Harkness Field.
