Women's Soccer Defeated by SUNY New Paltz

KINGSTON, N.Y. - SUNY New Paltz got a goal with just 31 seconds left in the second half to defeat Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in a non-league women's soccer game.  The homestanding Hawks got the win when junior forward Kerri Kely (Valley Stream, NY) four freshman midfielder Brianne Miller (Blue Point, NY), who sailed the ball from the left side into the net.

With the win, New Paltz improves to 7-5-1.  Rensselaer, which held a 17-7 shot advantage, falls to 2-8-1.

After a scoreless first period in which RPI held a 9-1 advantage in shots, SUNY New Paltz grabbed the lead on a goal from sophomore Jaime McBain (Troy, NY) at the 67:53 mark.  Rensselaer evened the game just five minutes later when sophomore forward Andi Trinward (Waterville, ME/Waterville) scored off an assist from Judy Kastner (West Islip, NY/West Islip).  The Hawks got the game-winner 17 minutes later.

Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville, NY) made 12 saves to earn the win in goal while senior Jackie Gabriele (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) stopped three shots for RPI.
