TROY, N.Y. – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) got two first half goals from senior Craig DiDomenico (Commack, NY/Commack) and the Red Hawks limited SUNY Old Westbury to just one shot in a 4-0 win over the Panthers in a Division III men’s soccer game at Harkness Field.

DiDomenico’s first goal, came when junior Colin Donahoe (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) crossed the ball from the right side and past the goalie, who came out to play the pass.  That goal came at 19:58.  DiDomenico tapped the ball into the vacated net for the lead.  On the second goal, DiDomenico took an elevated cross from Donahue and scored at the 25:19 mark.

Rensselaer freshman Max Molleo (Gray, ME/Cheverus) added a pair of second half goals, one assisted by Kris Zanotto (Los Gatos, CA/Saint Francis) and the other by senior goalkeeper John Thibdeau (Altamont, NY/Bethlehem).  On both of Molleo’s goals, he shot the ball from the left side into the right corner.

Thibdeau, a sophomore, did not make any saves in the game while Old Westbury sophomore Brian Hicks (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) stopped 11 shots, including six in the first half.  Rensselaer finished with 41 shots versus the Panthers’ one.

The Red Hawks return to action on Friday afternoon at 4pm when they travel to Hamilton for a Liberty League contest.  The Panthers play again on Wednesday when they travel to Farmingdale for a Skyline Conference game (3:30pm).
