Women's Hockey Scores Two in Third for the Win

MacDonald and Thompson tally as RPI improves to 4-0-1

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Rensselaer got third period goals from freshmen Nicole McDonald (Ottawa, ON/Ottawa Raiders) and Emily Donowick (West Seneca, NY/Nichols School) to overcome a one-goal deficit and defeat Robert Morris, 2-1.  With the win, RPI is now 4-0-1.  The homestanding Colonials fall to 0-3-0.

Robert Morris took a 1-0 lead in the second period when Kristin Miles scored at the 6:40 mark.

Rensselaer tied the game on McDonald's goal, which was unassisted at 1:03.  Donwick then got the game-winner off assists from seniors Jennifer Onksen (Germantown, MD/Washington Little Capitals) and Kari Rabatin (Brookhaven, NY/Tabor Academy) at 7:32.

Freshman Ashley Mayr (Burnaby, BC/BC Breakers), who was making her first collegiate start, stopped 15 shots for the win.  Brianne McLaughlin finished with 29 saves for the Colonials.
