MIDDLEBURY, VT - Amanda Lund (Chester, CT/Valley Regional) recorded eight saves in each half for a game total of 16 saves but the Red Hawks were unable to come up with the victory as it fell to ninth-ranked Middlebury, 4-1 on Kohn Field. The Panthers (11-2) wrap up its regular season at Trinity on Saturday before hosting a NESCAC Tournament first-round game on Sunday at 1:00pm. Rensselaer (6-9) wraps up its regular season Saturday at St. Lawrence at 2pm.
Reid Berrien (Westbury, CT/Green Farms Academy) scored the first of her three goals at the 26:38 mark of the first half with an outside shot, after a feed from Channing Weymouth (Plymouth, NH/Holderness). Allison Smith (Darien, CT/Hotchkiss) gave Middlebury a 2-0 lead at 19:49, before Berrien and Weymouth struck again with just 2:11 left in the first half. Rensselaer battled back, scoring its lone goal of the game on a penalty corner with no time left in the half. Freshman Kristina Baker (Bolton, MA/Nashoba Regional) found Andrea Flynn (Guilford, CT/Guilford), who buried the shot from close range.
Berrien scored the game's final goal in the second half with 24:01 remaining, to seal the 4-1 victory for the Panthers.
Meghan McGillen (E. Harwich, MA/Harwich) made two saves for Middlebury.
