TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men’s team and the Union College women’s teams are the 2005 Liberty League Swimming & Diving Champions after winning the league meets, which were held at Robison Pool in Troy, NY.  The Red Hawks men’s team, which compiled 894.50 points, has now won two consecutive titles. The Union women earned 710 points to win their first title since 1997, ending Hamilton’s reign as the seven-time consecutive league champions dating back to 1998.

Thirteen league records were set and all 13 times were good enough to qualify, either automatically or provisionally, for the NCAA National Meet.

Rensselaer’s Bryan Geiger and Rochester’s Kari Joyce were named Men's and Women's swimmers of the Meet, respectively, while Hamilton’s Mike Salmon and Emily Clinkhammer were the Divers of the Meet.  Emily Love of Vassar was chosen as the Women’s Rookie of the Meet and Rochester’s Bruce Maki and Union’s Kevin Kewin shared the Rookies of the Meet award on the men’s side.  Vassar’s Lisl Prater-Lee, Jesup Szatkowki & Tom Albright earned Coach of the Meet honors.
