In the first varsity game ever played at Springfield College's soccer field, the homestanding Pride scored three goals in the first half and four more in the second to defeat the Red Hawks, 7-1, in the season opener for both teams. Cara Reilly and Lindsay Bugbee both had two goals while Amanda Petri stopped one shot for the victory. For Rensselaer, freshman forward Judy Kastner scored a second half goal on an assist from Sarah Briggs. Jackie Gabriele and Tara Marandino combined to make two saves in the goal.
