Rochester, N.Y - Heidi Davies (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) scored off a penalty corner midway through the second half to snap a 1-1 tie and carry the University of Rochester to a 2-1 victory over visiting Rensselaer at Edwin Fauver Stadium here today.

The Yellowjackets improved to 5-3 overall, 2-0 in the Liberty League. RPI is 3-3 overall, 0-2 in the Liberty League. Rochester is tied for second place in the Liberty League standings with William Smith College.  Both teams are 2-0. Skidmore is first with a 3-0 record.

Sara Stylinski (Southington, CT/Southington) put the Red Hawks ahead just 4:05 into the match. She latched onto a ball one yard from goal and directed it past the dive of Rochester goaltender Rachel Cahan (Evanston, IL/North Shore Country Day).

 

Rochester evened it with 3:38 left in the first half. Krista Butler (Carmel,  NY/Carmel) took a hard shot off a penalty corner and Revay Wilson (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) knocked the rebound past Amanda Lund (Chester, CT/Valley Regional).

With 13:09 gone in the second half, Kari Plewniak (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) directed a penalty corner to Davies and her low drive got just under the lunge of Lund.

Cahan made three saves for the Yellowjackets. Lund stopped two shots for RPI.
