Women's Hockey Improves to 13-1-2

BOSTON, Mass. - Junior Sarah Daniel had a goal and an assist and freshman Ashley Mayr stopped 28 shots to lead Rensselaer's women's ice hockey team to a 3-1 win over Northeastern in a non-league game.  With the victory, RPI is now 13-1-2.  The Huskies fall to 4-16-1.

Mayr improved to 5-0-1 by stopping seven shots in the first period, 11 in the second and ten in the third.  Marisa Hourihan made 16 saves for Northeastern.

Freshman Melissa Boik put RPI ahead with a power play goal just 3:08 into the contest.  Kelly Barbera and Daniels assisted on the goal.  Senior Julie Welte doubled the Engineers' lead at 12:56 of the second period but the Huskies got a shorthanded goal late in the stanza.

Daniel iced the game for the visitors with an unassisted, shorthanded empty net goal with only 11 seconds remaining in the game.
