GENEVA, N.Y. - William Smith broke open a close game with a big second half and the Herons defeated Rensselaer, 65-46, in a Liberty League contest.  William Smith, which outscored RPI by 17 points in the second half, improves to 8-3 overall and 2-0 in the league.  Rensselaer falls to 7-4 and 1-1.

The Red Hawks were led in the game by junior forward Kristi Baranowski, who recorded ten points and nine rebounds (six offensive) - both team-highs.  The captain also had four steals.  Junior guard Destany Eagles chipped in with eight points, four rebounds (2 off.) and three steals.

William Smith, which held RPI to just 25.3% shooting, including just 1-for-18 (5.6%) from three-point range, was paced Stephanie Czajkowski, who had 19 points, 12 rebounds, a block and three steals.  Two others scored in double digits for the Herons.

Rensselaer returns to action on Tuesday night in a Liberty League game against Vassar at 6pm at Robison Gym.
