SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Senior guard Erika Eisenhut (Mohawk, NY/ Mohawk) led Union with 27 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals in an 88-71 win over Rensselaer Friday at the Viniar Athletic Center.
Junior forward Krystal Hammond (Clifton Park, NY/ Shenendehowa) posted 22 points and seven rebounds for Union, winners of three straight and nine of 10. The Dutchmen improved to 11-5, 5-1 in the Liberty League. Selin Whitham (South Winsdor, CT/ South Winsdor) added 11 points and seven assists and fellow freshman Sarah Krammen (East Granby, CT/ South Windsor) scored 11 points.
Rensselaer (9-6, 3-3) was paced by junior forward Kristi Baranowski (Liverpool, NY/ Liverpool) with a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Caitlyn Charest (Swansea, MA/ LaSalle Academy) scored 12 points.
Union shot 53.1% and hit for 53.8% in three-pointers. Rensselaer shot 43.3% for the contest and had a 34-30 rebounding advantage. The Red Hawks took a 10-0 lead 3:03 into the game, but Union tied it at 10-10 at 14:35. Trailing 35-34 with 3:53 left in the first half, the Dutchwomen went on a 13-3 run to close out the half with a 47-38 lead, and never trailed by less then seven in the second stanza.
The Dutchwomen host Vassar Saturday at 2 p.m. while Rensselaer plays at Skidmore Saturday at 2 p.m.
