Women's Hoops Downs Keene State, 66-62

TROY, N.Y. – Three players reached double figures in points as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) defeated Keene State 66-62 in a Division III non-conference women’s basketball game at Robison Gym.  With the victory, the Red Hawks improve to 5-3 while the Owls are now 7-4.

Junior forward Kristi Baranowski had 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting, 11 rebounds (5 offensive) one block and one steal in 27 minutes. Destany Eagles (Conway, SC/Carolina Forest), a junior guard, had 15 points and six rebounds (3 offensive) with four assists and three steals in 33 minutes.  Freshman guard Whitney Coleman (Etiwanda, CA/Etiwanda) added 11 points and four rebounds with five assists.

For Keene State, junior forward Sarah Begnoche (Millville, MA/Blackstone-Millville) tallied a game-high 29 points and a game-best 16 rebounds (7 offensive).  She was 12-of-18 shooting and recorded one block in 37 minutes.  Senior forward Stacey Morse (Lebanon, NH/Lebanon) added 13 points and seven rebounds with one assist and two steals for the Owls.  

RPI returns to the court on Sunday afternoon when it hosts Middlebury in a non-conference matchup at 2pm at Robison Gym.  Keene State is back in action on Saturday when it hosts UMass-Boston at 1pm.
