BOSTON, Mass. - Boston University scored once in the first period and once in the second before holding off the Rensselaer women's ice hockey team, 2-1, in a non-league contest at Walter Brown Arena. The Terriers, who downed the Engineers, 3-2 in overtime on Friday, improve to 4-0-0. Rensselaer falls to 0-5-0.
Nicki Wiart put the home team ahead at 18:20 of the first period before RPI's Jamie-Lynn Stewart (Cambridge, ON/Cambridge Jr. Fury) tied the game with a shorthanded goal early in the second period. Nicole McDonald (Ottawa, ON/Ottawa Raiders) and Laura Gersten (Queensbury, NY/Troy-Albany Ice Cats) earned the assists on the goal, Stewart's second of the season.
The Terriers got the eventual game-winner late in the second period when Erin Seman scored with 2:45 left in the second period. It was the second straight game-winning goal for Seman.
Ashley Mayr (Burnaby, BC/BC Breakers) stopped 23 shots in the loss for the Engineers. Allyse Wilcox made 23 saves for the Terriers, including ten in the third period.
