Clemente Leads Field Hockey to 3-1 Victory

CLINTON, N.Y. - Junior Michelle Clemente (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) scored one goal and assisted on the other two to lead visiting Rensselaer to a 3-1 Liberty League field hockey win over Hamilton at Campus Road Athletic Field.

The Red Hawks ended Hamilton's four-game win streak. Rensselaer is fourth in the league standings with one league game remaining, but could move up to second place with a victory at St. Lawrence University on Sunday. The Continentals' season is complete.

Sara Stylinski (Southington, CT/Southington) and Shaina Feldman (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville Area) added goals and Michelle Roy (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) was credited with two assists. Liz Szewczak# (Enfield, CT/Enrico Fermi) made nine saves to pick up the victory in goal.

Olivia Gambir gave Hamilton a 1-0 lead with the first goal of her career 8:22 into the first half. Kerry Leonard and Katie Stinchfield had the assists.

Feldman tied the score 14 minutes later and the teams went to the break in a 1-1 deadlock. Clemente put Rensselaer ahead for good just 4:19 into the second half. Stylinski clinched the victory with 19:30 left.

Clemente leads the Red Hawks (8-7 overall, 4-2 league) with seven goals. Roy tops Rensselaer with four assists this year.
