TROY, N.Y. – Senior Axel Galeano (Queens, NY/Brooklyn Friends) scored the game's only goal less than three minutes into the game as St. Lawrence went on to defeat Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 1-0, in Liberty League men’s soccer action. With the victory, the Saints improve to 8-4-2 on the season and 4-2-1 in the league. The Red Hawks fall to 5-11-0 with a 1-6-0 record in the league.

St. Lawrence is now in third place in the Liberty League standings and secures the #3 playoff seed in next weekend's league tournament.

Off a pass from junior James Merrill (Kennebunk, ME/Cheverus), Galeano broke through the RPI defense and sent a hard shot out of the reach of Red Hawks goalie Jeffery Krywanczyk (Chazy, NY/Chazy Central Rural) at the 2:20 mark.

The Saints defense held strong in the second half, holding Rensselaer off the scoreboard. Sophomore Emilio Coletta (Montreal, PQ/Marianapolis College) made one save in the win for St. Lawrence. Krywanczyk posted three saves in goal for RPI.

Rensselaer wraps up its regular season schedule on Saturday in a non-conference match at Elmira. The Saints are back in action on Wednesday for a non-league game at Plattsburgh State (7pm).
