PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Kim Pearce had a goal and two assists to lead the ninth-ranked Princeton women’s hockey team to a 3-2 win over Rensselaer on Saturday afternoon in ECAC Hockey League action at Baker Rink. With the victory, the Tigers extend their season-opening unbeaten streak to eight games and are now 6-0-2 on the season and 6-0-1 in the league. The Engineers fall to 3-10-0 overall with a 1-3-0 ECACHL mark.

Pearce opened the scoring with her fourth goal of the season 1:43 into the contest. Sophomore Katherine Dineen and McCumber assisted on the goal. The Engineers battled back mid-way through the frame on sophomore Jamie-Lynn Stewart’s team-leading fifth goal of the season, unassisted at 12:56.

Tied at 1-1 in the second period, junior Lizzie Keady gave the Tigers a one-goal advantage. Keady picked up the loose puck off a rebound shot by Pearce, sending a shot past Rensselaer goalie Ashley Mayr at 12:15.

Princeton extended the lead to 3-1 at 14:52 of the period when junior Marykate Oakley scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season. Senior Dina McCumber lofted an outlet pass from her own end that hit Pearce on the Princeton blueline. Pearce came into the RPI zone and held on until a play developed in front of the net. Pearce fed the puck to Oakley who redirected it into the net for the game-winning goal.

The Engineers got a goal from sophomore Emily Donowick mid-way through the third period but RPI could not overcome the deficit.

Princeton sophomore netminder Kristen Young made 10 saves for the win, while Mayr had 21 stops in the loss.
