COSTA MESA, Calif. - Randolph Macon scored seven straight points midway through the second half to take its first lead of the half and the Yellow Jackets held off Rensselaer, 70-68, in the Surf City Classic.  RPI saw its three-game winning streak snapped in falling to 3-4.  Randolph Macon improves to 5-2.

The Red Hawks, playing their first game since December 9, led by four points, 39-35, at the half and held the lead until the Yellow Jackets made their run.  Randolph Macon increased its lead to as many as 11 points with just over seven minutes remaining before Rensselaer fought back.  RPI got to within one point with 22 seconds remaining but could not get another basket.

Junior forward Tory Lyons (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam) led the Red Hawks with a game-high 15 points in just 17 minutes.  She also had six rebounds, including two offensive, before fouling out.  Senior guard Destany Eagles (Conway, SC/Carolina Forest) added 14 points, three rebounds, three steals, and four steals while Southern California native Whitney Coleman (Etiwanda, CA/Etiwanda), a sophomore guard, had 11 points and four assists.

Sophomore forward Lindsay Reisbeck (Newport News, VA/Menchville) paced Randolph Macon with 15 points, three rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and three steals.
