PRINCETON, N.J. - Princeton scored five unanswered goals, including three in the third period, to defeat Rensselaer, 6-2, in an ECAC Hockey League game at Hobey Baker Rink. The Tigers, who got two goals from Darrell Powe (Kanata, ON/Kanata), improve to 5-7-2 overall and 4-5-1 in the league. RPI falls to 4-5-6 and 1-2-3.
Princeton took a 1-0 lead at 18:57 of the first period but the Engineers came out with two quick goals in the second frame. Sophomore Andrei Uryadov (St. Petersburg, Russia/South Kent) and freshman Jordan Cyr (Winnipeg, MB/Brockville Braves) both scored unassisted within the first 2:20 but the Tigers knotted the game just 1:01 after Cyr's goal. For Cyr, a forward, the goal was the first of his career.
Princeton re-gained the lead at 8:07 of the second period before scoring its three goals in the third, including an empty netter, for the victory.
Rensselaer's Jordan Alford (Red Deer, AB/Canmore Eagles) and Mathias Lange (Klagenfurt, Austria/New York Apple Core) combined to stop 40 shots in goal while Zane Kalemba (Saddle Brook, NJ/Flin Flon) made 12 saves for the Tigers.
