Women's Hoops Falls to St. Lawrence, 84-72

CANTON, N.Y. – St. Lawrence broke open a close game with a big second half and the Saints defeated Rensselaer, 84-72, in a Liberty League contest.  St. Lawrence, which outscored RPI by 18 points in the second half, improves to 13-6 overall and 7-1 in the league.  Rensselaer falls to 10-7 and 4-4.

The Red Hawks were led by junior forward Kristi Baranowski (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), who recorded a game-high 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting.  She also had a team-high eight rebounds (three offensive) and four assists.  Freshman guard Whitney Coleman (Etiwanda, CA/Etiwanda) added 15 points, four rebounds and four assists while junior guard Destany Eagles (Conway, SC/Carolina Forest) chipped in 16 points, four assists, one block and one steal.

St. Lawrence, which shot just 39.3% from the field while RPI made 54.9% of its baskets, was paced by sophomore Jamie Wolff (Buffalo, NY/Nardin Academy), who had 19 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.  Two others scored in double digits for the Saints.

Rensselaer returns to action on Saturday afternoon in a Liberty League game at Clarkson (2pm).  St. Lawrence hosts league foe Vassar on Saturday at 2pm.
