ORLANDO, Fla. – Senior midfielder Adam LoGiudice (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) tallied three goals and two assists and sophomore attack Jamie Merritt (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) had three goals and an assist to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men’s lacrosse team to a 14-8 victory over SUNY Potsdam in a non-league game. With the win, Rensselaer improves to 2-1. Potsdam falls to 0-1.

RPI led 6-3 after the first quarter and 11-5 at halftime. Both teams scored twice in the third quarter and once in the fourth for the final margin.

In addition to LoGiudice, the Red Hawks got two goals each from freshmen midfielder Josh Secora (Evergreen, CO/Golden), senior midfielder Chris Sherman (Newark, DE/St. Mark’s) and freshman midfielder Ryan Bigham (Newton, CT/Trinity Pawling). Sophomore midfielder Alex MacDiarmid (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) added a goal and two assists for Rensselaer, which got ten saves from junior goalie Ryan Michels (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine).

For Potsdam, junior Brian Hondorf (Webster-Schroeder, NY/MCC) stopped seven shots in the first half and classmate Tim Neer (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville) had 12 in the second. Senior attack Travis Holmes (Jamesville-Dewitt/HCC) had two goals and an assist to lead the offense.
