TAMPA, Fla. - Junior Luke Calzone (Bethel, CT/Bethel) pitched 8.1 innings, allowing just four hits and two earned runs while striking out 12 to lead the Rensselaer baseball team to its first victory of the season, 11-2 over Framingham St. RPI, which took control with a six-run second inning, improves to 1-3 on the young season. Framingham falls to 1-4.
Offensively for the Red Hawks, freshman Jim Devine (Castleton, NY/Columbia) led the way with three hits in four at bats, including a double, with a run scored. Also contributing were junior Adam Lasek (Waterford, NY/Waterford), who was 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI, junior Ken Carroll (Shelton, CT/Fairfield Prep), who had two hits with two runs scored, and junior Jason Pollard (Hudson, NY/Hudson), who had two hits, two runs and a run batted in.
