SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Freshman Elise Britt (Saratoga Springs, NY) scored four goals and added an assist to lead the 16th-ranked Skidmore College women’s lacrosse team opened Liberty League play with a 15-4 win over Rensselaer, Friday afternoon at Skidmore stadium.
Britt broke a 2-2 tie at 15:16 of the first half, starting a run of nine consecutive Skidmore goals. Carly Strife (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) broke the streak for the Red Hawks at 11:34 of the second, to make it 11-3. The Thoroughbreds closed out the game with four of the next five goals.
Strife and Kerri Clark (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) each finished with two goals and an assist for RPI (2-2, 0-1 Liberty).
Also for Skidmore (5-0, 1-0 Liberty), Liz Prentke (Seattle, WA) tallied three goals and an assist while Alexandra Ravener (Glen Cove, NY) had two goals and three assists. Annie Ledyard (West Grove, PA) and Allie Vogel (Blauvelt, NY) had two goals each.
Thoroughbred goalie Sarah Berheide (Saratoga Springs, NY) had eight saves, while Gianna Casale (Waterford, NY/Academy of Holy Names) stopped 13 shots for the Red Hawks.
Skidmore will host Vassar on Saturday (2pm), while Rensselaer heads to Schenectady, N.Y., to battle area-rival Union at 2pm.
