ONEONTA, N.Y. - Junior Jacki Rose (Marathon, NY/Marathon) finished off a penalty corner after time expired to lift Oneonta State to a thrilling 2-1 win over Rensselaer in its home opener. The Red Dragons (3-2) earned the penalty corner with 12 seconds to go in the game, but as is the case in field hockey, the game does not end if the offense is awarded a penalty corner. The game ends at the completion of the corner and, in this case it was the game-winning goal for the hosts.

Rensselaer (2-3) took a 1-0 lead with less than five minutes to go in the opening half on a goal by sophomore Kristiina Baker (Bolton, MA/Nashoba Regional). Baker collected a rebound after a save by the Oneonta goalie and reversed her stick to bang it to the back of the goal.

Oneonta battled back to tie the game in the second half on a goal by senior Rachel Dansky (River Edge, NJ/Riverdell) in the 46th minute.  Dansky collected a loose ball at the top of the circle and scored through the legs of Rensselaer goalie Jen O'Neil (Derry, NH/Pinkerton Academy).

The visitors finished the game with a 15-9 advantage in shots and a 12-7 advantage in penalty corners.
