Mayr stops 30 shots in 4-3 win

POTSDAM, N.Y. - Freshman Whitney Naslund (Bloomington, MN/Bloomington-Jefferson) had a goal and an assist and sophomore Ashley Mayr (Burnaby, BC/BC Breakers) stopped 30 shots to lead Rensselaer's women's hockey team to a 4-3 come-from-behind win at ECAC Hockey League foe Clarkson.  With the victory, RPI improves 11-13-1 overall and 7-6-1 in the league.  The Golden Knights fall to 14-10-2 and 6-7-1. 

Clarkson jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of power play goals before the Engineers got on the board.  Senior captain Sarah Daniel (Calgary, AB/Bowness Bruins) cut RPI's deficit in half with her 11th goal of the season at 15:57 of the second period and freshman Alyson Weidner (Wichita, KS/Shattuck St. Mary's) tied it with just 61 seconds left in the middle frame.

Rensselaer went ahead 4-2 with two early goals in the third period.  Sophomore Emily Donowick (West Seneca, NY/Nichols School) scored at 2:31 and Naslund got the game-winner, unassisted, less than four minutes later.  Clarkson tallied its third power play goal of the game at 11:38 but the Golden Knights could not get the equalizer.

Mayr, the reigning ECAC Hockey League Goaltender of the Week, stopped 12 shots in the first period, nine in the second, and nine in the third.  Three of her third period saves came with under a minute left and Clarkson have an extra skater.

Christine Bailkowski (Aurora, ON/Aurora Jr. Panthers) had two goals and an assist for Clarkson, which got ten saves from Stephanie Hansen (Calgary, AB/Washington Pride).
