CLINTON, N.Y. -- Sophomore Jabel Prom (Sandy Spring, MD/Sherwood) scored both Rensselaer goals and helped the Red Hawks battle to a 2-2 double overtime draw against Hamilton in Liberty League men's soccer action.

Max Akuamoah-Boateng ’09 was ejected late in the first half following his second yellow card, forcing the Continentals (4-2-3, 2-2-1 league) to play with just 10 men for the remainder of the game. The Red Hawks (5-4-2, 1-2-1) took advantage, getting two goals in the second half from Prom. Akuamoah-Boateng’s header off a corner kick in the fifth minute was the only goal of the first half. The assist came from Paul Moakler ’10.

Jesse Arroyave ’11 scored in the second half to give Hamilton a brief 2-1 lead when he converted a Rensselaer turnover for a goal at 57:06. Prom’s second goal knotted the score at 2-2 after he redirected a head ball from a teammate following a corner kick. Gary Sroka ’08 and Michael Long ’10 had the assists.

Both teams took two shots during the 20 minutes of overtime. Alex Penny ’11 made 10 saves for Rensselaer, including one in the second overtime to preserve the tie. Anthony Carello ’09 made five saves for Hamilton.

The Red Hawks, tied for 10th in this week’s Northeast region top 10 coaches poll, lead the all-time series, 16-13-3. Hamilton is unbeaten in its last five games against Rensselaer (4-0-1).

The game was delayed 50 minutes due to lightning late in the second half.
