Jackman leads Red Hawks to, 87-60, victory

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women’s basketball team fell to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), by a final score of 87-60. The Sunday afternoon contest that saw 10 different Red Hawks score, was the final game of the RIT Thanksgiving Classic at the Clark Gym. With the victory, RPI improves to 2-3 on the season, while the Tigers fall to 1-1.

RPI took control of the game with a 21-4 run to end the first half. The Red Hawks led 48-26 at the half on the strength of 62.5 percent shooting (20-for-32) and a 23-13 edge in rebounding.

RIT was led by Brianna O’Dell (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) and Jackie Hammond (Bloomfield, NY) who each had 13 points. Christine Rowinski (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow Hills East) added nine points and five rebounds. Joanna Dobeck (Victor, NY/Mercy) led RIT with six rebounds.

Missy Jackman (Danvers, MA/Danvers) led all scorers with 27 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the floor. She also had eight assists and three rebounds.  Elizabeth Barker (Springfield, MA/Cathedral) also stood out for the Red Hawks, scoring 13 points and adding 15 rebounds.

Rensselaer returns to action on Tuesday evening when it hosts Williams at Robison Gym (6pm).
