Simmons tallies 11 points in RPI's 78-60 loss

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Ursinius College shot 56.9% for the game and held Rensselaer to just 23 second half points to defeat the Red Hawks, 78-60, in the first day of action at the Land of Magic Classic.  The Bears improve to 7-2 overall while RPI falls to 3-4.

Backed by a game-high 22 points from senior guard Nick Shattuck, Ursinus overcame a seven-point Red Hawks lead at the half to secure the win.  Rensselaer, which saw senior forward Sam Simmons post a team-best 11 points, shot just 34.6% from the field in the second half.

In addition to Shattuck, who also had a game-high eight rebounds, the Bears saw senior Michael Sherma and sophomore Kevin Page add 14 and 10 points, resepectively.

For RPI, senior Sam Zullo and freshman Jeremy Bull posted nine points each.

The Red Hawks return to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on Colby College at 12pm on day two of action at the Land of Magic Classic.
