Men's Basketball Defeated by Hobart, 69-62

GENEVA, N.Y. - Hobart outscored the Rensselaer men's basketball team 31-15 over the final 15:16 to turn a nine-point deficit into a seven-point victory, 69-62, in a Liberty League contest.  The Statesmen improve to 10-14 overall and 6-7 in the league, while RPI is now 13-11 and 6-7.

The visiting Red Hawks held a 35-30 lead at halftime and a 47-38 advantage with 15:16 remaining in the second frame but Hobart battled back for the win. 

Statesmen forward John Grazioli led all scorers with 18 points and seven rebounds while teammate Kevin Riley scored 13 points with two caroms.

Rensselaer was paced by junior forward Sam Simmons (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy), who had 15 points and seven rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench.  Sophomore Dan Rourke (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) recorded 12 points, three rebounds, a block, and three steals, while senior Michael Visker (Essex, VT/Essex Junction) had 11 points and two rebounds.

The Red Hawks close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon at Hamilton College (4pm).  Hobart hosts Vassar College in its final game of the regular season (4pm).
