WAYNE, N.J. - Junior lefthander Joe Zongol (Flower Mound, TX/Southington) allowed just one hit while striking out eight to lead Rensselaer baseball team, the 23rd-ranked team in the country, to a 1-0 win over third-ranked Montclair St.  RPI improves to 9-1 with the victory while Montclair falls to 7-5.

Zongol improved to 2-0 with the victory.  The Red Hawks plated their only run in the sixth inning when senior Jason Pollard (Hudson, NY/Hudson) walked and moved to third on a sacrifice and an error on a bunt by sophomore Sean Wilkes (Troy, NY/Catholic Central).  With Pollard on third and Wilkes on second, senior Ken Carroll (Shelton, NY/Fairfield Prep) was intentionally walked.  Junior Eric Redding (Kerhonkson, NY/Rondout Valley) followed with a sacrifice fly, scoring Pollard.

Junior Tim Stringer (Annandale, NJ/North Hunterdon) went the distance in the loss for the Red Hawks, allowing just three hits.
