TAMPA, Fla. - Freshman Andrew Mondo (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) pitched seven innings, allowing just six hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts, to earn the win in his first career start, helping the Red Hawks to a 9-3 win over Cornell College at Florida College. With the win the Rensselaer improves to 3-0 while Cornell drops to 2-1 on the young season.
Offensively the Red Hawks were led by senior Adam Lasek (Waterford, NY/Waterford), who went 3 for 4 with a double, three runs and two runs batted in. In addition, senior Ken Carroll (Shelton, CT/Fairfield Prep.) went 3 for 5 with two runs and freshman Patrick Reardon (Troy, NY/LaSalle Institute) was 2 for 2 with a run and two RBI.
