WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Rensselaer scored five goals in the final four minutes of the first half to take a 7-6 lead at the break but the Red Hawks were unable to hold on in the second frame, losing their season opener, 12-10, to Saint Anselm.

The Hawks held a 5-2 lead late in the first half before Rensselaer scored five of the next six goals, including two (and an assist) from junior Carly Strife (Ballston Spa, NY/Saratoga Springs), for a 7-6 advantage at halftime.

Freshman Kathy Rogers (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) and sophomore Kerry Clark (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) both added a goal and an assist.  Rogers also had team-highs of three ground balls and five caused turnovers.

Freshmen goalies Emily Perkins (Bow, NH/Bow) and Ariana Hood (Severn, MD/Old Mill) split the game in the cage, making four saves apiece.

For Saint Anselm, Lauren Glancy (Scituate, MA/Scituate) led the way with six goals in the game. Sophomore Michaela Rocha (Rye, NH/Berkshire School) chipped in with two goals for the Hawks, who saw freshman Allie DiRico (Royersford, PA/The Hill School) make ten saves.
