Hamilton clinches regular season title with 19-3 win

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Junior Nicole Tetreault scored five goals and assisted on three others as nationally ranked No. 6 Hamilton College completed a perfect Liberty League regular season with a 19-3 win against visiting Rensselaer at Campus Road Athletic Field this afternoon.

Hamilton (11-2, 8-0 league) clinched its third outright league regular season title and the program’s first since 2001. The Continentals -- winners of 11 straight games -- earned the No. 1 seed for the league championships tournament and will host the four-team event on Friday,
May 4, and Saturday, May 5. Rensselaer (4-8, 2-5) was held scoreless in the second half.

Tetreault now leads the Continentals with 40 goals and 54 points. Sophomore Kaillie
Briscoe chipped in three goals and three assists while senior Liz Longley added three goals, one assist and three draw controls. Senior netminder Kalley Greer and freshman Kate Fowler combined to make nine saves.

For the Red Hawks, freshman Sam Fennessey, junior Morgan Wahl and sophomore Kerri Clark scored one goal each. Additionally, Clark picked up four ground balls and Wahl won two draw controls.

Hamilton scored the first nine goals and cruised the rest of the way. Tetreault had four goals in the first half as the Continentals led 12-3 at the break. Hamilton held a 37-18 advantage in shots and won 17 draws to the Red Hawks’ seven.

The Continentals travel to Ithaca College for a non-league game on Wednesday (4pm) while Rensselaer is at Hartwick College for a non-league game on Tuesday (7pm).
