Box Score

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Rensselaer scored eight of the game's final nine goals but it was not enough as the Red Hawks lost to Hartwick, 17-15, in a non-league women's lacrosse game at Wright Stadium.  RPI falls to 4-9 while the homestanding Hawks conclude the season at 5-10.

Trailing 16-7, the Red Hawks made things interesting in the final ten minutes by cutting the deficit to 16-13 with six goals in a six-minute span. Hartwick ended the Rensselaer scoring streak with 3:50 remaining when Emily Coats (Cortland, N.Y.) scored to give the Hawks much needed insurance for the closing moments. The Red Hawks fought back with goals with 2:33 and 1:17 remaining in the game before Hartwick controlled the ball in the final minute to cement the victory.
The homestanding Hawks took a 10-4 lead into intermission thanks in part to Kelsey Campbell (Camillus, N.Y.) and Jessica DiBrita (Rockville Centre, N.Y.). With Hartwick leading 7-4, Campbell closed the first half with three consecutive goals, including one as time expired. The junior finished the first half with four of her seven markers, while DiBrita closed off her career by posting three of her career-high five goals in the opening 30 minutes.

The Hawks extended the lead by opening the second half with the first two goals, one by Campbell at 26:22 and another by DiBrita at 22:59. After the Red Hawks cut the deficit to 13-6, Hartwick upped the lead by netting three of the game’s next four scores. However, behind Kerri Clark (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) and Sam Fennessey (Gansevoort, NY/Saratoga Springs), Rensselaer battled back starting with Clark’s second goal of the game with 12:06 left in regulation. The sophomore, along with Fennessey, a freshman, each registered two tallies in the comeback. Both ended up with hat tricks for the Red Hawks, along with Natalie White (Guilford, CT/Guilford).
