Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Skidmore College junior forward Elise Britt (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga) scored two goals 14 seconds apart to lead the Thoroughbreds to a 5-0 Liberty League victory over Rensselaer on Friday afternoon.

Skidmore (5-1, 2-0 Liberty) dominated play early, but were unable to put anything together until Britt scored off a rebound with 3:43 to play in the first half. Freshman Christine Kemp (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) then intercepted the restart and sent Britt in alone down the right side to score with 3:29 to play in the half. It was her team-high eighth goal of the season.

The Thoroughbreds came out strong in the second half, taking a 3-0 lead on Shaila DeLea’s (Cornish, Maine) goal from Chelsea Lisaius (Warren, Vt.) at 36:08. DeLea picked up her sixth goal of the season at 47:14 from Carolyne McManama (Medfield, Mass.).

Kemp scored the final goal at 53:00 when she took a pass from DeLea and made a quick move past RPI goalie Kate Williams (Rome, NY/Holland Patent).

Skidmore out shot RPI (3-4, 0-1) 26-5 and held a 12-4 corner advantage.

Thoroughbred freshman goalie Liz Catinella (Sudbury, Mass.) earned her third shutout of the season with four saves, including one on a breakaway with 30 seconds to play in the game. Williams finished with 12 saves for the Red Hawks.

Skidmore hosts Vassar in a Liberty League contest on Saturday at 4 p.m., while RPI is at Union.
