HOBOKEN, N.J. - Stevens Institute scored a goal in each half and went on to defeat Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 2-0, in the opening game of the Stevens Engineering Cup, hosted by Stevens.  The Ducks improve to 2-1 while the Red Hawks fall to 2-1-1 on the season.

Sophomore midfielder Leslie Kallberg opened the scoring for the Ducks at 22:28 of the first half after she headed the ball in on a restart.  Senior Sara Roeder earned the assist on the play.

The Ducks, which held a commanding lead in shots, 22-1, added to their advantage in the second half as freshman Mary Chew booted it in from 22-yards out for the unassisted goal at 84:58.

In goal, sophomore Sherri Rosenburg and freshman Jenn Pontier each played 45:00 for Stevens.  Neither had any saves.  For Rensselaer, freshman keeper Meghan White posted three saves.
