MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rose Hulman men's basketball team saw Blake Knotts (Louisville, KY/Christian) come off the bench and score a game-high 24 points in beating Rensselaer, 67-63, at Kern Center. With the victory, the Engineers improve to 2-1 on the season, while the Red Hawks fall to 1-2.

Knotts was 7 for 14 on the afternoon, including 7 for 11 from beyond the arc. He also hauled down four rebounds, with an assist and a game-high five steals.

The Engineers, which took a three point lead (33-30) into the half, held a slight lead throughout the second half. The Red Hawks took a brief lead with 11:29 to play in game after a Tim Rupp (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) lay-up made it 45-44 in favor of RPI.

Rose Hulman quickly answered on a bucket by Jason Haslag (Linn, MO/Helias Interparrish) to go up by a point, and the Engineers did not trail the rest of the way.

Rupp and junior Ricky Philatre (Randolph, MA/Randolph) lead the team with eight points each. Rupp also had nine rebound and two assists, while Philatre added six boards, with two blocks and a steal. Senior Sam Simmons (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) recorded seven points with a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Engineers got 12 points from Haslag and Spencer Harlan (Terre Haute, IN/South Vigo).

RPI returns to action Sunday when it visits Paul Smith's College (2pm).
