SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Rensselaer women's basketball team scored 40 second half points, on its way to defeating Skidmore College, 66-48, Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Red Hawks improve to 10-11 overall and 5-6 in the Liberty League. The Thoroughbreds fall to 13-10, and 6-6 in conference play.

The game remained close throughout the first half with the Red Hawks taking a 26-21 lead into halftime.

Rensselaer shot 60% from beyond the three-point arch, and outscored the Thoroughbreds 14-6 in the pain in the first 20 minutes.

Led by senior Tory Lyons (Feed Hills, MA/Agawan), who had 20 points and 11 rebounds, the Red Hawks shot 57.1% in the second half, outscoring Skidmore 40-27. Junior Elizabeth Barker (Suffield, CT/Cathedral) chipped in with 13 points and four rebounds.

Skidmore got 12 points and a team-high four assists from junior guard Laurel Brown (South Hamilton, MA/Loomis Chaffee). Classmate Sharlyn Harper (New York, NY/Holderness) added eight points and three assists.

The Red Hawks return to action this Tuesday night, when they visit Vassar (6pm).
