Women's Hoops Falls to Hamilton

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Hamilton College women's basketball team held Rensselaer to 24.5% shooting and went on to win 61-39, Friday night. WIth the victory, the Continentals improve to 11-7 overall and 6-2 in the Liberty League. The Red Hawks are now 8-10 overall and 3-5 in league play.

The Continentals outscored RPI by 11 points in each half and shot 37.5% from three-point range.

Hamilton scored the first nine points of the game only to see the Red Hawks score ten straight to take a one-point lead. The Continentals then out-scored RPI 17-9 the rest of the half to take a 28-17 lead into the break.

Hamilton extended its advantage, scoring the first ten points of the second half, taking a 38-17 lead at 16:57. RPI never closed within 16 points the rest of the way.

Sydney Fasulo (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster County Day School) led Hamilton with 13 points and three rebounds. Senior Pumla Sathula (Soweto, South Africa/Saint Annes-Belfield School) recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.

RPI junior Elizabeth Barker (Suffield, CT/Cathedral) scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Junior Caityn Charest (Swansea, MA/LaSalle Academy) added eight points and a game-high four steals.

The Red Hawks return to action tomorrow afternoon when they visit William Smith (2pm).
