POTSDAM, N.Y. – Four different Red Hawks scored two goals apiece to lead the Rensselaer women's lacrosse team to a 13-11 win at Clarkson in a Liberty League contest. With the win, RPI improves to 7-5 overall and 2-4 in the league. Senior Natalie White (Guilford, CT/Guilford) and junior Emily Donowick (West Seneca, NY/Nichols School) led RPI with three points (2 goals, 1 assist) apiece.
The Red Hawks opened the scoring with three of the game's first four games before the Golden Knights tied the game at 3-3 with just under eight minutes left in the opening half. RPI got free position goals from Jennifer Greenwood (Sandy Hook, CT/Newtown) and Carly Strife (Ballston Spa, NY/Saratoga Springs) before Clarkson scored again to make it a 5-4 game.
RPI scored the next four goals, including two by Afton Marshall (Windham, NH/Salem) for a commanding 9-4 lead with 21:51 left in the second half. The homestanding Golden Knights fought to within one goal, 12-11, with 2:44 remaining before White closed out the scoring with a second to go. Emily Borjarski had Clarkson's last three goals.
Rensselaer outshot Clarkson 28-26 and held a 24-15 advantage in ground balls. Sophomore Ariana Hood (Severn, MD/Old Mill) posted eight stops in the win. Senior Meagan Emlaw made seven saves for the Knights.
